Typhoon Pablo victims support from Dubai is overwhelming reaching 2.3M Peso.

A January 14, 2013, press release from the Department of Foreign Affairs:

Filipinos in Dubai continue to pour their support to the victims of typhoon Pablo which ravaged the southern Philippines last December.

Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Sum of Tipanan Restaurant, a restaurant chain operating in Dubai and serving Filipino dishes, made a donation of P80,000 through the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc.

Similarly, Overseas Pinoy Professional Photographers Society (OPPPS), a Dubai-based Filipino organization operating under the auspices of the Consulate General, made a donation of AED 2,500 (P27,672) through the Philippine Red Cross last December 15, 2012.

With these contributions, donations from the Filipino community in Dubai have amounted to P2,371,255.

A total of 1,067 persons perished in the disaster while 342 more remain missing. Various countries, organizations, and individuals responded to the urgent appeal for humanitarian assistance with large amounts of relief supplies and a total of P729,694,367.25 in financial aid as of January 11.
