Breast Cancer Awareness Month Events 2014

Breast cancer can happen to any woman (and even some men), but it is curable if detected early and survival rates can be improved by up to 90%.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO) figures, one-third of cancer deaths can be reduced with early detection. Globally, this equates to 400,000 lives lost to cancer every year.

There are local activities and events taking place around the region, so here are just a few you can get involved in:

- In Qatar the College of North Atlantic have a week of breast cancer awareness activities;

- The Oman Cancer Association is hosting a walk on 28 October and is offering free mammograms at Qurum City Centre and Muscat Grand Mall

- The Burjuman Centre in Dubai has a huge ‘Safe & Sound’ stand to visit and free breast examinations at the uniCare Medical Centre; You can also register for the Pink Walkathon on 31st Dec http://www.safeandsound.ae/

- Abu Dhabi has events planned at The Clubhouse in Zayed Sports City, the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr and Abu Dhabi Golf Club, among others;

- On 29 October there will be a full day of social events and family activities at Hili Fun City in Al Ain;

- Capital Club Bahrain and Cadillac are hosting the "Pink Cadillac" Afternoon Tea, a ladies and gents event hosted at Capital Club's Skyline Lounge on 29 October.
