Air Asia Flight QZ8501 is missing- Latest Update

BREAKING An unconfirmed report from Jakarta says that QZ8501 is down in the sea near Belitung island.

According to Gulf Times, The pilot had asked to go to 38,000 feet to avoid clouds. Five minutes later, at 6.17 am, the tower in Jakarta lost contact with QZ8501.

The AirAsia flight, which was traveling from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Changi, Singapore, lost contact with the Jakarta air traffic control tower at 6:17 a.m local time Sunday.



According to a Reuters report, Transport Ministry air transportation director Joko Muryo Atmodjo said that the aircraft was between the Indonesian port of Tanjung Pandan and the town of Pontianak, in West Kalimantan on Borneo island, when it went missing.
