OFW Saudi Claimants Demand Replacement of DMW Officials

 Now that the Saudi Government started paying the Saudi Claimants from Saudi Oger ex-employees it seems that the long overdue payment of unpaid salaries for OFW's are near and yet so far. Those claimants who are still in Saudi Arabia managed to get their cash from Alinma Bank but those who are in the Philippines received their cheque through DHL but the cheque is in Saudi Riyals and the local banks are not accepting it. Some managed to deposit the cheque in the Landbank of the Philippines but the cheque was returned to them. 

There are still more ex-employees from Saudi Oger who are yet to receive their pay cheques and more claimants from other companies like MMG, Arabtec, J&P etc. are yet to receive any information from the Department of Migrant Workers if they will get paid as promised by Saudi Government that nine construction companies that went on bankruptcy will get paid.

The only time DMW officials will give information is when the spokesperson of claimants from different companies will chase them to hold a meeting. The supposed to be focal person, USec Olalia never gave any update at least on the DMW page about the Status of the Claims. Earlier they have mentioned that the payment would be Government to Government but it never happened and they were not aware that the Ministry of Finance already started processing the payment.

The OFWs who were considered "bagong bayani" deserved better service from better officials who were compassionate enough to deal with the issues of OFWs.

Saudi Ministry of Finance paid Saudi Claimants from Oger, MMG, J&P

Saudi Ministry of Finance started paying the first and second batch of  Claimants for unpaid salary from Saudi Oger and eventually going to pay other eight companies including MMG Bin Laden Group, J&P etc. Some of those who are on first and second batch they were able to encash or transfer to their personal bank account the cheques issued by Alinma Bank. 

For Filipinos already in Philippines, their cheques were delivered by DHL. The said cheques in Riyals can be brought to any Landbank branch nearest you. Only 500 pesos to open an ATM Account while P10,000 for passbook account.

According to Saudi Oger claimants group after reviewing the Alinma Bank and communicating with the branch manager and the regional manager, the bank reported the following.

All financial claims were divided into 5 groups according to the value of the claim, where the first and second groups were paid, which were less than half a million Saudi riyals, and the third group was paid for those who had a limit of one million. As for the fourth group, for more than one million up to two million, and the fifth for those above that, the financial statements with the names are issued by the Ministry of Finance, not the liquidator, to the bank. Accordingly, the first and second group are paid. They were given a deadline of a month to complete it. The third group will be issued after that without specifying a timetable for that, as Payment will be made to everyone who was on the court’s first and second names list, even if a ruling has not yet been issued against them, because the one who pays is the ministry and not the liquidator, according to the agreement with the ambassadors, and the Filipino workers were paid for

Where to encash cheques from Alinma Bank in the Philippines?

Saudi Oger claimants for unpaid salaries are happy now that they started receiving cheques from Alinma Bank through DHL.

After eight years of waiting, Saudi Claimants finally received payment courtesy of Saudi Government. Those employees still in Saudi Arabia have no problems with encashment or transfer of funds to their personal bank accounts. However, those who are already residing in the Philippines are having a hard time with encashment since only few Landbank branches are accepting the cheques since the amount is in Riyal.

More claimants are yet to register with ehqaq as they are expecting a government to government payment as announced earlier by the DMW.

According to business huma rights website, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac said the Philippine government will address the concerns of the OFWs.

“There will be an appropriate announcement in one or two days about the manner in which we will help,” Cacdac said.

A hotline to help those who re yet to register on ehqaq and how to received uour payment (cheque) and how to encash it will be provided later by DMW.

Saudi Oger Claimants How to Get your Pay Cheque

How do Saudi Oger Claimants can get their payment via Cheque through Alinma Bank according to online data provided by Saudi Oger Claimants groups.

The Ministry of Justice has released the approved list of the first group.It initially contains the names of 12,578 people sorted by their claim number.

 According to one post from the group member, all 1st batch claimants of SOL, email notifications from saudi oger bankruptcy have already been forwarded to their respective email addresses registered in ehqaq, so kindly check your email, if you didn’t receive means you are not included in 1st batch.

After 14 days from a court ruling, they can receive another email from them, maybe asking to modify ehqaq to input the personal account number or they ask the claimants' account number in email (both ways.

Mr. Tagayan reiterated from his post that as per trustee chairman Mr. Shabani, the payment will be direct to the claimants, this is their stand/decision since 2021 up to their last conversation last three months ago.
