How Apple Watch measures your heart rate?

admin 05:29 Add Comment
Got a question about the heart rate sensor on Apple Watch? Find out how it works!

The heart rate sensor in Apple Watch uses what is known as photoplethysmography. This technology, while difficult to pronounce, is based on a very simple fact: Blood is red because it reflects red light and absorbs green light. Apple Watch uses green LED lights paired with light‑sensitive photodiodes to detect the amount of blood flowing through your wrist at any given moment. When your heart beats, the blood flow in your wrist — and the green light absorption — is greater. Between beats, it’s less. By flashing its LED lights hundreds of times per second, Apple Watch can calculate the number of times the heart beats each minute — your heart rate. In addition, the heart rate sensor is designed to compensate for low signal levels by increasing both LED brightness and sampling rate.

You can check your heart rate any time using the Heart Rate Glance. And when you're using the Workout app, Apple Watch measures your heart rate continuously during the workout. This information, as well as other data it collects, helps Apple Watch estimate how many calories you’ve burned. In addition, Apple Watch measures your heart rate throughout the day when you’re still. You can see these background heart rate measurements in the Health app on your iPhone. Since Apple Watch only takes this background reading when you're still, the time between these measurements will vary.

From your iPhone, you can find third-party apps designed to work with your Apple Watch:

You might already have third-party apps on your Apple Watch. When you set up your Apple Watch, you have the option to either Install All or Install Later. If you pick Install All, any third-party apps on your iPhone that are compatible with Apple Watch will automatically sync. You can use up to 20 Glances on your Apple Watch. By default, Apple Watch uses 9 Glances, though you can edit these at any time.

Edit your current list of Glances

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap My Watch > Glances.

  • Remove a Glance by tapping  . Then tap Remove.

  2. Tap Notifications, then scroll down.

  3. Turn off Mirror iPhone Alerts.

Apple Watch Sticky Digital Crown

admin 00:54 Add Comment
Has anyone else's digital crown developed a stickiness/stiffness?

Mine was fine for the first 4 days and turned really freely, however today it has developed a bit of resistance when turning it.

For example, if the Digital Crown isn't turning smoothly or your Apple Watch isn't responding to a button press, follow these steps.

Check for debris and wipe down your Apple Watch

If the Digital Crown gets stuck or won’t move, it might be because of dirt or debris. If you find substances like dust or lotion around the Digital Crown, follow these steps to clean, and repeat as needed:
  1. Turn off your Apple Watch and remove it from the charger.
  2. If you have a leather band, remove it from your Apple Watch.
  3. Hold the Digital Crown under lightly running, warm, fresh water from a faucet for 10 to 15 seconds.Soaps and other cleaning products shouldn't be used.
  4. Continuously turn and press the Digital Crown as water runs over the small gap between the crown and the housing.
  5. Dry your Apple Watch with a non-abrasive, lint-free cleaning cloth.

If you can press and rotate the crown, but your Apple Watch doesn’t respond

  • Turn off your Apple Watch and turn it back on.
  • If you can’t turn off the device, or if your Apple Watch isn’t responding, then you can force restart the devices as a last resort: Press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple Logo.
  • If the issue still isn’t resolved, get more help.

Apple Watch Stopped my Pairing Tutorial on How to Fix

My Apple Watch just stopped pairing to my iPhone 6. The Watch still has all of the apps and info, but the Watch app on the phone doesn't show a Watch is connected.

I don't know how to repair the watch.  I don't want to have to delete everything.

Check the connection between your Apple Watch and iPhone

There are two ways to check the connection between your Apple Watch and iPhone:

  • If you see a red Disconnected icon   on the watch face, you don't have a connection.

  • Swipe up on the watch face to open Glances. Swipe left or right to find the Settings Glance, which shows if you're connected. You can also tap  . If connected, your iPhone should make a "ping" sound.

You'll see a red Disconnected icon on your Apple Watch display if you aren't connected

A green Connected icon on your Apple Watch display means it's connected to your paired iPhone

If you need help with your connection

  1. Move your Apple Watch and paired iPhone close together, to make sure they're in range.

  2. On your iPhone, swipe up to open Control Center.

  3. Make sure that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned on.

  4. Restart your Apple Watch and iPhone.

  5. Unpair your devices. Then pair them again.

Apple Watch- How do I change the time on the watch when there's no cell signal?

admin 00:44 Add Comment
We are leaving on a trans-Atlantic cruise shortly and I'm realizing that I have no idea how to change the time on my watch. Every day or two the time will change on the ship so that we're on the right time-zone when we arrive. I will have my phone with me, but will not have it connecting to a cell signal because I'm not interested in being charged the outrageous cell at sea prices. Any thoughts?

Three possibilities:

  1. Go to Settings > Time > "+ 0 mins".  You can turn the digital crown to vary the time by up to 59 minutes.
  2. Use the World Clock to set the time to some city that you know is in the correct time zone.
  3. Have the paired iPhone use the ship's WiFi (not cellular).  That may well supply the correct time.

One more that I want to throw out, is that time comes from the iPhone. You should also be able to set the time manually on the iPhone in Settings > General > Date and Time
There, you can set it by a relevant city, or just adjust to match the time of the ship's clocks

What do you think is the better watch between Apple Watch and Samsung Gear?

According to Apple, Apple Watch is unlike any device they’ve ever made. But they wanted interacting with it to be just as easy and intuitive as using your iPhone or working on a Mac.

"So we invented all-new ways to select, navigate, and input that are ideally suited to a smaller device worn on the wrist. The result is an experience that’s both unique to Apple Watch and quintessentially Apple."

Digital Crown. A modern twist on a traditional feature.

Every new product we’ve introduced has been defined by a unique input device. With Apple Watch, it’s the Digital Crown. On mechanical watches, the crown has historically been used to set the time and date and to wind the mainspring. We reimagined it as a versatile tool that answers the fundamental challenge of how to magnify content on a small display. Pinching to zoom, as you do on iPhone, is impractical. But rotating the Digital Crown allows you to zoom and scroll nimbly and precisely, without obstructing your view. You can also push it like a button to return to the Home screen, making it an integral part of the Apple Watch experience.

Entirely new,
yet immediately familiar.

From the moment you wake the display with a simple raise of the wrist, you’ll be comfortable using Apple Watch. The Watch OS feels amazingly fresh. But it’s visually reminiscent of what you’re used to seeing, and is designed around simple gestures, such as zooming and panning, that already come naturally. Navigation is fluid and responsive. And the arrangement of apps is simple and orderly. We even developed a new typeface to maximize legibility. All of which means you’ll know your way around Apple Watch in virtually no time.

Apple Watch Specs and Video Introduction

An incredibly precise timepiece.

High-quality watches have long been defined by their ability to keep unfailingly accurate time, and Apple Watch is no exception. It uses multiple technologies in conjunction with your iPhone to keep time within 50 milliseconds of the definitive global time standard. And it can automatically adjust to the local time when you travel. Apple Watch also presents time in a more meaningful, personal context by sending you notifications and alerts relevant to your life and schedule.

A more immediate, intimate way to connect. Apple Watch is right there on your wrist, so it makes all the ways you’re used to communicating more convenient. And because it touches your skin, we were able to add a physical dimension to alerts and notifications — you’ll feel a gentle tap when you receive an incoming message. Apple Watch also allows you to connect with your favorite people in some new, spontaneous ways not possible with any other device.

Apple Watch gives you a more complete picture of your all-day physical activity because it measures more than just the quantity of your movement, such as the number of steps you take. It measures the quality and frequency as well. The three rings of the Activity app show your progress at a glance, and provide all the motivation you need to sit less, move more, and get some exercise. There’s also a separate Workout app for dedicated cardio sessions. Over time, Apple Watch can use what it learns about the way you move to suggest personalized daily fitness goals and encourage you to achieve them. So you can live a better day and a healthier life.

Apple Watch release date in Dubai- Specs and Price

Apple has just revealed iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, (see it, HERE!) and their goal has always been to make powerful technology more accessible. More relevant. And ultimately more personal. Apple Watch represents a new chapter in the relationship people have with technology. It’s the most personal product we’ve ever made, because it’s the first one designed to be worn.

There’s an Apple Watch for everyone.

A device you wear is vastly different from one you keep on a desk or carry in your pocket. It’s more than a tool. It’s a very personal expression. So we designed Apple Watch to reflect a wide range of stylistic preferences. And we’ve curated three distinctive collections to help you find the watch that’s right for you.

The price tag for Apple Watch is USD349.

Incorporating powerful technologies into something small enough to wear on the wrist presented some very big design challenges. Which led to even bigger creative solutions. Apple Watch combines a series of remarkable feats of engineering into a singular, entirely new experience. One that blurs the boundaries between the physical object and the software that powers it.

The crown has been a standard feature on watches for more than a century. Our new Digital Crown is a multifunctional input device that lets you zoom, scroll, and select without covering the screen. It’s as integral to Apple Watch as the Click Wheel is to iPod. Or the mouse is to Mac. We also built the new Watch OS from the wrist up. The Home screen lets you quickly find your favorite apps. The custom font is easy to read at arm’s length. And the force-sensitive Retina display puts more functionality at your fingertip. Technically speaking, it’s one amazing little device.
We will post the Apple Watch  Best Price here once it becomes available in 2015. High-quality watches have long been defined by their ability to keep unfailingly accurate time, and Apple Watch is no exception.
