Classic baseball game Bases Loaded is now in the Virtual Console on Wii U. Step up to the plate to find out why the game was one of the most-loved baseball games on the NES.

Pitch, Hit and Run Like the Pros!

Bases Loaded is a baseball game with an arcade feel and plenty of options from which players can choose. Select one of twelve teams, set your lineup from the 30 players available (each with different strengths), and then play a single game or try to win the pennant. During game play, the screen shows two different viewpoints: one from behind home plate as you’re batting, and the other from the pitching mound in a television-style shot (unique for the time) as your team plays in the field. Strong play control and excellent graphics add to the excitement as you decide what pitch to throw (you can even try to provoke the opposing batter into charging the mound!), control all of the positions in the field, or do your best to get a hit. So step to the plate and find out why this is one of the most popular baseball games on the NES. Can you pull through in the clutch?

He received the second half of the penalty, another 50-game suspension, for lying to MLB about knowing Tony Bosch, owner of the Biogenesis clinic in South Florida.

Japanese baseball star Hideki Matsui Retires From Baseball

Japanese baseball star Hideki Matsui Retires From Baseball. Nicknamed “Godzilla,” the hard-hitting Matsui played ten seasons in MLB, seven of them with the New York Yankees (2003–2009). As a free agent, he then had one-year stints with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Oakland Athletics, and the Rays.

The 2009 World Series MVP announced his retirement at a news conference in NYC, the league’s official website posted.

“I want to thank all my fans, in the past 20 years —10 years in Japan and 10 years in the U.S.— who have supported me,” the 38-year-old slugger reportedly said. “I was supported by many fans and wonderful coaches and teammates.”

Matsui wore down toward the end of his career and admitted his performance was affected after a surgery.

“These past two years, I wasn’t able to yield very good results, and from around five years ago, both of my knees hadn’t been doing too well,” he reportedly said, adding “even after going through surgery, my physical condition wasn’t at its best.”
