6.2 magnitude earthquake hits Iran- May 11, 2013

A strong earthquake measuring 6.2 hit southern Iran early Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter of the quake was measured at 85 kilometers (52 miles) southeast of the southern town of Minab at 0208 GMT , the USGS said in a statement. It was at a depth of 36.44 km according to AFP report.

The earthquake was felt most on the shore of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic trade point for the international oil market.

Last week, April 9, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake killed at least 37 and injured hundreds more in a sparsely populated area in southern Iran on Tuesday, Iranian officials said, adding that it did not damage a nuclear plant in the region.

Basir- Islamic Google Earth Launch after four months

According to the report from Irsihtime.com, Mohammad Hassan Nami, Iran's Minister for Information and Communications Technology announced that Iran is developing an "Islamic Google Earth" they callBasir.

Nami also revealed that Basir is set to be launched within the next four months.

Earlier, Iran unveils another part of its military potential as the US and Israel continue their threats against Iran's nuclear facilities. The latest item unveiled by Iran's defense minister is a smart ammunition system titled "BASIR", its main objective is to enhance Iran's defense capability during military threats.
