According to the Associated Press, the teachers were gunned down in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the same area where militants shot and seriously wounded Malala Yousufzai, the 15-year-old activist who fights for women’s right to education, in October last year.

Javed Akhtar, director of Support With Working Solutions, a non-governmental organization active in vaccination campaigns against polio, suspect that the victims were targeted for their anti-polio work.
