You’ve set up your town defenses against zombies — now join the zombies’ side to steal brains from other players and win prizes! Brainball is a unique new game mode in PvZ Adventures that lets you compete with players from across the globe.
Get brains and hide them strategically in your town, then create zombies to send to other players’ towns and swipe their brains. But watch out — other players are coming for your brains, too! A fresh Brainball tourney starts each Tuesday at 12 p.m. Pacific Time, with a big leaderboard showing who’s in front. Whoever ends up with the most brains each week wins crazy prizes!
When the tournament begins, you will be invited to join. You'll be given brains to hide around your town. The number of brains you start out with depends on your current level in the game, but the number of brains you wind up with throughout the week depends only on your skill and determination!
How to Play:
Click the Brainball icon to join the tournament and start placing your brains. There are many strategic options to consider! Do you want to place all your brains in one basket? Spread them randomly around town? Leave one in an undefended building in the hopes no one will look there? The options are endless.
Click this icon to grow your zombie hordes! You can create up to ten waves of zombies for dispatching to raid your opponents' buildings. Each type of wave includes lesser zombies as well, so Barrel Zombie waves will also contain Coneheads and Browncoats. It takes time to grow your waves, but you can speed this process up with Gems.
When you're ready to start questing for brains, click the main Brainball icon again. You'll see a list of players who have also opted in to Brainball this week, with the current leaders at the top. You can choose to attack the leaders, or you can pick off some of the weaker prey lower down on the list...there's a strategy to your choice here too! The lower down on the leaderboard, the fewer brains to find, which means you might be searching more buildings in those towns before you get lucky. And the higher up a player is on the leaderboard, the better the odds you'll know where to look for a brain or two right away!
Attack!!!
When you choose a building to target with your zombie horde, you will have up to three full waves of zombies with which to pummel the building's defenses. If your zombies make it all the way to the building without being defeated during the initial assault, the attack ends there. If your first wave is overwhelmed by the plants in that lot, however, the next wave will spawn at the spot your zombies reached before perishing. That means each wave has less ground to cover on its road to victory! You will be offered the chance to choose your next wave type also, so if you want to throw more powerful zombies into the mix, here's your chance! Or if your initial attack took you most of the way there, and you want to save your stronger zombies for later, switch it down to Browncoats for the victory lap. The damage you did to the plants is persistent between waves as well. However, if all three waves fail and you choose to attack that building again, the plants will revive for the next fresh horde you send in.
Using fog to stun and disorient plants or invigorate your zombies!
During your attack, instead of sun falling from the sky, you will see clouds of fog. This fog can be used to stun plants and speed up zombies! Collect it and click on a target to affect. Wall-nuts cannot be stunned, but hey, they're taking enough punishment already, so why not give 'em a break?
When I win a battle and collect a brain, where does it go?
Newly collected brains are delivered straight to your main house. (If your main house is not connected to the road with an active path, they'll be delivered to the next oldest building in town that is connected.) You can move your plundered brains to a less obvious location by clicking on the building they're in and choosing Move Brains on the menu popup. You can move brains from one building to another at any time, even if only to keep your enemies guessing!
Who am I playing against?
When you opt in to Brainball for the weekly tournament, you will be placed into a group of up to 100 players around the world. You are matched with a group based on your current level in the game to keep the matches fair and even.
Are there rewards beyond the glory of the leaderboard?
Do people seek greater rewards than leaderboard dominance and foe shamification? Well, if so, you're in luck, because there are rewards for the top players in your division each week! Gems will be awarded to the greatest of the cerebral conquistadors! The number of gems available in each division's pool is calculated based on the number of competitors as well as the number of lots you have unlocked in town.
