Google today celebrates Nicolaus Copernicus' 540th birthday, a Renaissance scholar, physician, mathematician and astronomer, with an animated heliocentric model doodle.



According to IndiaTimes.com, Copernicus' is remembered for his heliocentric theory that proved Sun as the centre of the universe and not Earth. His theory put an end to the notion that the Sun revolves around the Earth.



Born on February 19, 1473, in the province of Royal Prussia, in the Kingdom of Poland, the Renaissance astronomer and mathematician pursued his education with mathematical achievements.
