"Now, Smart subscribers can enjoy YouTube and other online videos like Dailymotion, Vimeo, Viewstrean, Skype Qik and Dubsmash wherever they want through affordable 'sachets' designed to suit their mobile lifestyle and budget," she said.
Smart’s mobile Internet revenue and that of Digitel Mobile Philippines Inc rose 19 percent to P2.2 billion in the first quarter of this year from P1.9 billion in the same three months of last year.
Rajan Anandan, Google Southeast Asia and India vice president and managing director, said this new offering from Smart would allows Filipinos to enjoy smooth, buffer-free versions of YouTube by using the new offline feature that the company introduced last December.
"We want to make sure we are making YouTube as enjoyable as possible for our growing base of mobile users in the Philippines. By working with Smart to create a more affordable way for people to watch videos on mobile we hope Filipinos will be able to enjoy a better YouTube experience across devices, either at home or on the go," he added.
Smart recently unveiled new data packages for prepaid and broadband subscribers, giving them more generous mobile data packages.
A P50 Big Bytes subscription already includes 300MB of all-access mobile data, 500MB for Smart's SPINNR music service, and 100MB for YouTube or Skype Qik, valid for three days.
