Yahoo bought Tumblr for $1.1 Billion.

Yahoo! announced Monday its acquisition of Tumblr for a whopping $1.1 Billion. In the announcement, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer promises not to screw the blogging platform up.

Based on both announcements, users of the popular blogging-meets-social platform need not worry about anything and can continue their routine although a few changes are expected in the coming weeks or months. Mayer explained:

In terms of working together, Tumblr can deploy Yahoo!’s personalization technology and search infrastructure to help its users discover creators, bloggers, and content they’ll love. In turn, Tumblr brings 50 billion blog posts (and 75 million more arriving each day) to Yahoo!’s media network and search experiences. The two companies will also work together to create advertising opportunities that are seamless and enhance user experience.

This development has received positive feedback so far, but there’s one thing some users are also talking about after Yahoo! acquires Tumblr: the name being changed into “Yumblr!” is possible, isn’t it?
