Largest Mosque in Dubai will be built by 2013 report says! This is yet another milestone for Dubai's growing recognition worldwide.
Here's a report from Construction Week Online:
The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF) is in the process of reviewing seven bids for what will be the largest mosque in Dubai, to be located near the Clock Tower Roundabout in Dubai’s Deira.
The 4,180m2 mosque will be erected on a 9,755m2 landscaped plot at a cost of $6.8m, and play host to 3,500 worshippers, all using 15-19% less energy and water, and no hazardous building materials.
“This is the first green mosque all the way in the Middle East,” said Tayeb Abdulrahman Al Rais, secretary-general of the AMAF. “This will become the standard for all the mosques in the future. It should blend in with the environment, it will be very low maintenance.”
''The mosque project complies with best practices in corporate governance, while being transparent and gaining the validation of Awqaf, government and private institutions."
