According to BBC, the riots originated from a “personal dispute” in a company dormitory. Foxconn reportedly said that the clash did not appear to be work-related.
Foxconn has shut down a giant electronics plant in northern Chinese city of Taiyuan after a riot broke out involving some 2,000 workers. But Brian Blair, senior research analyst at Wedge Partners, tells Reuters TV that the events at the plant are unlikely to hurt Apple's production of its most popular products. (September 24, 2012)
Last March, an investigation conducted by a labor group found poor working conditions and worker abuse at Foxconn.
