The Los Angeles Times reports that the giant egg weighed nearly half-a-pound. It was three times the size of eggs commonly available at grocery stores.
According to its 87-year-old owner who lives in Guizhou, the hen ignores corn that other chickens are eating. Choosy huh?
The woman reportedly said she thought the rare fowl was dying when it struggled to lay the giant egg for the first time. But in three weeks, her pet laid three more eggs that are extremely large.
The chinese giant egg, however, isn’t the world’s largest.
Currently holding the Guinness World Record title for the largest chicken egg ever laid is Matilda, a chicken from Ipswich, England that laid an egg 3 1/2 inches high and 8.3 inches round.
