As the Philippines’ official Olympic broadcaster, TV5 is once again at the forefront of giving all Kapatid front row seats to the biennial, regional event. Viewers and netizens will follow the journey of the 400-plus strong athletes of the Philippine delegation who will be competing in Singapore against 11 neighboring countries in 46 sports, across a total of 402 events.
TV5’s exclusive coverage of the 28th SEA Games will kick off with the telecast of the event’s grand opening ceremonies as it happens live in Singapore’s newly-built National Stadium on June 5, airing live via Aksyon TV and www.Sports5.ph. The sporting festivities will be highlighted with live airing of the games of Men’s and Women’s Basketball, and Men’s and Women’s Volleyball (both via TV5, Aksyon TV and www.Sports5.ph); and Men’s Football (via Aksyon TV and www.Sports5.ph).
Meanwhile, the Philippines has lorded over the Southeast Asian Games men's basketball tournament since the sport was introduced in the biennial meet in 1977, winning all but one championship title.
Now, the team led by Gilas Pilipinas naturalized center Marcus Douthit and collegiate superstar Kiefer Ravena is expected to continue the country's dominance and win the 17th gold medal in the sport.
