Apple revealed OS X Mavericks, its latest Mac operating system, with a new kind of price tag: free. This is the first time the company has offered this kind of deal for a Mac OS.



Apple unveiled a slew of new products at its event in San Francisco on October 22. The stars of the show include the lightweight iPad Air; a new iPad mini with Retina.

"OS X Mavericks begins a new chapter in the iBooks story. Now the books you’ve already downloaded on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch will automatically appear in iBooks on your Mac. And there are over 1.8 million more in the iBooks Store, ready for you to download with just a few clicks.1 Reading books is every bit as intuitive as it is on an iOS device — turn pages with a swipe, zoom in on images with a pinch, or scroll from cover to cover. If you’re a student hitting the books, keep as many open as you like and search through them with ease. When you quote an excerpt while writing a paper, iBooks adds a citation for you. And when you take notes, highlight passages, or add a bookmark on your Mac, iCloud pushes them to all your devices automatically. That way you have them on whichever one you take to class. iCloud even remembers which page you’re on. Apple Event on October 22 Live Streaming

Where to watch Live Streaming of Apple Event on October 22 for the launched of OS X Mavericks and possibly new iPads?



Apple's media invite teases: "We still have a lot to cover", which hints that the company's focus will not be limited to the new iPad and iPad mini, but will also feature updated MacBooks and the public launch of OS X Mavericks on 22 October.

The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, but as it did with the iPhone launch, Apple plans to stream the proceedings to a separate London satellite event that international media members have been invited to attend.

According to the report from ibntimes, along with the London stream, Apple is said to be setting up live streams for its employees to watch the event in Apple offices around the world, and the company will also offer a replay of the event on its website and iTunes after the event has concluded.



The fifth generation iPad is rumored to boast a thinner and lighter design, as well as an improved camera, according to the AllThingsD report. It will also reportedly run Apple's new 64-bit A7 chip.

A second generation iPad mini--featuring a retina display and the A7 chip--will also be announced at the event, the report claims.

Meanwhile, the Cupertino City Council voted unanimously this week to approve plans for Apple's new "spaceship" campus, the San Jose Mercury News reports.



Plans for the 2.8-million-square-foot building were first proposed by the late Steve Jobs in 2011. The building itself will be a four-story construction that will house more than 14,000 employees.
