Elgato Game Capture HD60 can work with HDMI video sources, like some DVD or Blu-ray players, as long as the video signal does not use HDCP copy protection.



VCRs typically do not offer HDMI video outputs, so they wouldn't work with Elgato Game Capture HD60.



Elgato Game Capture HD60 does not accept Composite or Component input. For those analog inputs, you can use the original Elgato Game Capture HD device.

High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is a digital copy protection system that is commonly associated withDisplayPort, DVI or HDMI connections.

Elgato Game Capture HD60 cannot receive any HDMI signal that has HDCP protection. It can receive HDMI signals that are not protected, like from the Xbox 360, Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

If you connect a HDMI signal that has HDCP protection, then Elgato Game Capture HD60 will not display video.

You can use many different types of video cameras with Elgato Game Capture HD60.

For example, many DSLRs (Digital single-lens reflex cameras) not only take pictures, but can also capture HD video as well. They usually offer HDMI output, and that 720p, 1080i or 1080p video output can be used with Elgato Game Capture HD.

The only exception is HDMI output that is protected by HDCP, but most consumer cameras wouldn't fall under that category. To make sure, you can contact the manufacturer of your camera to see if it uses HDCP or not.

Elgato Game Capture HD60 has HDMI input (for signals not using HDCP)

If your camera has unprotected HDMI output, then it should work with Elgato Game Capture HD60.

For analog signals, you can consider a product like the original Elgato Game Capture HD.

Types Of Supported Cameras

Some types of cameras that can work with Elgato Game Capture HD60:

• DSLRs
• AVCHD cameras
• Medical cameras
• Security cameras
• Digital camcorders

The main variables that need to be considered are:

1) Does the camera offer HDMI output?

2) Is the HDMI output unprotected by HDCP?

Any video that Elgato Game Capture HD60 can accept, can also be streamed.

If you hook up your camera to Elgato Game Capture HD60, then you can stream live or recorded video to services likeTwitch, YouTube or Ustream. You can also connect to a RTMP server of your choosing.
