The Philippine national men’s basketball team faced its toughest test in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games falling behind early before coming through in the end to beat Thailand, 80-75, in the semifinal round of the men’s basketball competition at the OCBC Arena Hall 1 in Singapore.

The Philippines trailed by as much as 12 points in the first half but found plenty of heroes in the second half as they fought back to hurdle a surprisingly game Thai squad in their semifinal clash.

Troy Rosario was brilliant all game long for the Gilas cadets, finishing with 27 points and 12 rebounds while Almond Vosotros added 18 points, including four triples in a big third quarter comeback for the Filipinos,according to InterAksyon.com.

Men's Basketball Gold Medal Match between the Philippines and winner from Singapore vs Indonesia match will be telecast live via streaming tomorrow, June 15, 2015 starting at 8:00 P.M. Philippine Time.

Jeth Troy Rosario led the Filipinos with 27 points and 12 rebounds, helping to keep his team on course for a 17th title. The Philippines has won all but one of the SEA Games basketball gold medals since the sport was introduced to the program in 1977, winning 10 straight titles since Malaysia beat them to break the sequence in the 1989 final.

The Philippines climbed to fifth place in the medal tally yesterday at the Southeast Asian Games with nine golds coming in from boxing, softball, athletics, and billiards on Wednesday.

The country now has 21 gold, 23 silver, and 34 bronze medals, passing Indonesia in the standings and just five gold medals behind fourth-ranked Malaysia.

But as of today Indonesia took the fifth place again with 22 Gold Medals.
