In the history of the Southeast Asian Games, the Philippines has won the gold medal in men’s basketball 16 out of the 17 times the event has been played. Starting June 10 in SIngapore, the Gilas Cadets will try to make it 17 out of 18.
This dominance got us wondering about the composition of all these SEA Games teams through the years. So with the help of local basketball historians Nardy Madrasto and Anthony Servinio, we sought to determine the line-ups of all Philippine men’s basketball teams that have competed in the SEA Games since basketball was introduced in 1977. After some research, here are the names we came up with. Browsing through these line-ups, you can see some of the biggest names that have graced Philippine basketball over the last 38 years.
